Packages..no problem...it's just the mail that might be slow getting anywhere in the future. I think they tend to rely on communication by way of comptuer....which means they better make less expenisve computers for everyone...and "servers"....and "security". |

Bought one for 50p because of its' Concorde connections you can see here..... http://www.flickr.com/photos/31284687@N05/6544618867/in/photostream My mum had a large photo album I don't know what happened to it??? It had a rare mis-stamped one of Dag Hammarskold with the alignment wrong. Had tons of others from all over the world from the 60s backwards. |

You would think that the Concorde connection would make it even more collectable wouldn't you? The fact is that there are many fdc's available at the sort of price you paid, it is just the way it is and only real collectors of stamps/history would be bothered, as you did of course. Happy New Year mate, take care Anna and Ron |

I like old postcards and always check the stamps on them for what might turn up. Also found a couple of Victorian Xmas cards the other day--more like today's post cards, invented by London architect Sir Henry Cole, you can see one here. http://www.flickr.com/photos/31284687@N05/6544763659/ Also amongst my photos there you'll see 1) a 1910 Doxa Hungarian army officers pocket watch of 1910 which still ticks away, and 2) a 1927 photo of Colorado near where I lived found in a box while ferreting around, as additionally, a Victorian letter on stationery from a hotel in North Wales, long since gone. Recently on Flickr, someone posted an old photo of tourists in Colorado and wondered who they might be, with names scrawled on the back they couldn't make out. Two hours later, had their names and were two families from Illinois attending a meeting of the Grand Army of the Republic in Denver in 1905; an organisation for ex-Union Army Civil War soldiers and two of them were former Illinois Cavalry troopers, now enjoying a day outing to Colorado Springs and having their photo taken together, before heading back to their farms in Ford County, ILL.. These sort of things usually don't cost much, but can be quite interesting finding out about them and perhaps about the people connected to them all those years ago. However, the 'treasure chest' is as elusive as ever and thus remains the 'treasure chest', but interesting stuff for those who are prepared to check it out, so to speak. I happen to be very interested in stamps and anything related whether it be postcards, fdc's, presentation packs, errors, albums etc but time to log everything is quite another matter.

Although I have some of the examples the postmarks are different, which in itself makes them collectable for somebody like myself. Thank you again, it really is appreciated. |
