As regards the many errors, it was because they were not produced by a security printer, and therefore would have been printed by a local print house as suggested. With security printing a single image would be created. If a single die were produced, this would then be impressed into a plate one at a time, resulting in slightly different alignment and spacing between the stamps on the plate. Or a 'step-and-repeat' camera would put the design onto a film which would then be processed to create a larger sheet. The designer probably drew up each image individually - maybe using photocopying and real cut and paste, in a sheet of 10, 12, 25 for example. Thus each 'stamp' is different. Okay, so why the interest. WelI I have found a couple of se tenant stamps in my collection that show examples of the horrendous errors, and wondered if any member might be able to add any information to what I already have. Maybe we have members who have been involved during this period? Needless to say I collect stamps, and have done so since I was about 9 years of age!

You could of course strip all the heavy bits of the album out and just send the pages? Let me know what you think, you can use the POE contact facility if you wish. |

I did earlier actually but took it down thinking I was probably being unfair as it wasn't a picture of England. I'll put it up for a while...
