At 4:45 pm. on March 1, Jamal Tarhuri boarded an Amtrack train in Portland for an 36 hour ride to Minneapolis, there, he talked at the Annual Nobel Peace Prize forum about his expereinces in Libya as an relief organization volunteer. Then he drove for 17 hours to attend a reception for the Libyan Prime minister and to meet with U.S. Senator Ron Wyden's staff. Ultimately he travelled 100 hours that could of been covered by plane in 12. Why?... because he somehow got on the government's "no-fly" list....whom are barred from flying because they are believed to be an anti-terrorism threat. There are at present 500,000 people on the terrorist watch list...20,000 people on the no-fly list...500 US Citizen's not allowed to fly over the U.S., and 17,000 people currently who are subject to increased screening before being allowed to fly over the US.

Recently Tarhuni debriefed with Joe DiCarlo director of international operations at Medical Teams International. They were talking about the recent trip when Tarhuni was detained in Tunisia on his way home from Libya. Tarhuni had delivered medical supplies for the relief group during that trip. He is asking his "Name be cleared" and his FBI file be released on him so he understands what has them all upset, as an possible suspect in terrorism... under the Freedom of Information Act...., so he can "get on with his life"...but he is not the only one. They also stopped Mustafia Elogbi also...returning home from visiting his mother...along with Tarhuni..they both landed at Portland, only after the intervention of an lawyer and Wyden's office...both are Muslims.  Tis true...9/11 has made in our lives... this kind of an difference these days. In some ways...both sides are victims of world issues these days in the world of security. Who can you trust? I just thought I'd let you know about this since recently they ousted an English young couple for putting on "facebook" they were planning to come to New York for an " party bashing" while here. Last night they Doug Hagman said that there are concerns for terrorism possibly in 11 cities from May 2 through May 11 of this year in the US. What he based his information on I've no idea....but he's known for this kind of information to scare everyone also. I think from what was posted the FBI recently had it out with illegals on the Mexican border recently...convinscating enough weapons of military style to warrant concern that there is some kind of "battle" planned between the Drug Cartel up here and the people in general some day. Let's hope not. Thought I would tell you this so you understand why some of us elect to not travel at all these days...high gas prices don't help either...and people are getting fed up with them also....that may be worldwide also.

Opps...that should of read terrorism threat by our Governent...sorry!

I just wanted you all to know how "security" can be some days.

I will probably never fly on an airplane, due to my heart problems..so they would not have to worry about me..besides...I can't fight my way out of an paper bag these days. That means I could never oust Ron for coming into our area wearing possibly "sweaty socks"...I know they'd let him in though.... because of "Anna"... Just joking Ron!

It's sad the good guys can't do good things though in the world these days to help others possibly. I imagine the medical supplies might of been greatly needed. Our area is known for going to the relief of others by Medical Teams International. It is indeed completely done by volunteer effort..... they have been in every major international disaster for the last 15 years that I know of...including Hurricane Katrina here in the USA....2004 Sumutra...Haiti..and others.
