For me it was a bit like a car wreck. You know when you pass one, its rather grisly but you just can't help but look.

I agree Sue. It reminded me of New Year's eve in New York City. I lot of chaos. I usually look forward to the beautiful displays but I did not see any.

Where else can you get Voldemort, James Bond, Sir Tim Berners-Lee, David Beckham on a speedboat, Mr Bean, Dizzee Rascal and the Queen jumping out of a chopper.

Clearly I need to lay off the vodka and tonics after a day in the sun.

If nothing else, the rest of the world will think we are all completely off our rockers. :-D

Didn't watch it. Never watch opening ceremonies.....waste of money and usually totally boring and nothing to with the impending sport. Apart from the fact that the sport actually started on Thursday I think????? Whats all that about.

Out of curiosity I watched untill 11. 00pm,  I thought it was utter chaos, and as for the Queen parachuting, how stupid, more like a kids show.

I did not watch it and will not watch one second of this money wasting farce.

A Tory MP has complained that it showed acts regarding the Jarrow hunger marches and the birth of the NHS.  He said it was too "leftie" !!!  Of course he has been forced to say sorry.  Now he is trying to spin his way out of it.

Does anyone require further proof that :

(a) The Tories do not want the NHS

(B) The Tories despise the working classes.

I wanted to post DebbieA's comment about the opening of the Olympics that she posted over on the Good Day thread, as I think its spot on and belongs here in this thread.

On 28th July 2012 15:26, DebbieA wrote:

It involved beds, soft music, loud music, lots of screaming and explosions.  I was seeing fireworks at the end.

Actually I think the whole show was quite bizarre and it felt like I needed to be on the funny fags to understand it.  But even though it felt like I was having some sort of wierd hallucinaic dream, the atmosphere was great and I do love any occasion when the country comes together.
