Missed half of it and the other half was over my shoulder as I had more pressing things at the time- busy on POE. The only bit I would have liked to see maybe would have been the industrial revolution but I am sure they would have missed out one of the most important people from that time, Richard Trevithick.

If we take it that the comments here are from a fair cross section of people I would LOVE to see a proper poll honestly answered.

Of course I am being silly because A......it would never happen and B.........if it were to happen and was proved to be 'honestly' answered it would never be published.

Quite true. One thing I am picking up on over the last week or two is whether the torch relay, opening ceromony or the bikes today is that to my mind the press, tele and wireless all seem to be pushing propaganda.type hysteria hyping everything up - you will join in and you will ENJOY it. I hope I explained myself there, it just tries to instill the moment whether you are bothered or not. Today all I saw were lots of folk all going the same way, some on foot and many on bikes all heading out of Bookham into Leatherhead or onto the Box Hill portion of the bike race. BBC Surrey did their best but how do you descibe a fleeting glance over the wireless, went back to Planet Rock most of the day and the roads were still closed when I went home, luckily my turning was unaffected but the next exit on the Young Street roundabout was closed.

I am not against the Games at all, in fact I think is a great thing for the country as a whole despite the multi millions it will have cost (and lost??) I just don't watch opening and closing ceremonies, they just hold no interest to me personally. The sporting side of it I shall watch quite a lot. All we hear my boss saying to people on the phone all day is 'I think it's a total waste of time and money' then in the next breath 'Oh yes. I'll be watching it'   double standards or what???

It's not the first time politics have been discussed in the forum John and it won't be the last. Lets face it this is the place to 'air' our views, and that is exactly what the members have done, nothing wrong with that!

I don't like Cameron, Clegg or Miliband, but I do like Farage so does that shock you?

We are still a friendly place, John; we just didn't (for the most part) enjoy the opening ceremony.

I did like the visual part of the industrial revolution, but not so much everything else.

And yes, I LOVE the games themselves. I love the gymnastics, diving, swimming, and I can watch a bit of dressage and horsy events quite happily.

I think in the long run, it will be a good thing to hold the Olympics in London, even monetarily.

As for politics, I keep away from that topic as I just don't get any of them.

LOL@Dennis.

I feel the same way about it Dennis but hiding under the bed might be a bit extreme, never know what you might find under there! lol
