How come Ofgem can't sort these people out, aren't they in place to regulate the industry? What say you members, do you think we are being overcharged for Gas and Electricity? Will there ever be an end to rip-off Britain?

Only the companies and stockholders have an advantage at times...and God forbide the suffering most the old folks go through on" limited income" as they hike the prices constantly. Solar...our electric company here regulates the abilty to have it...by the time they make you pay their fee's it's no savings to anyone. They should of found an way to be self-paying...and maybe the wind turbines have more promise in them to do that these days..over the dam generators. But as far as I am concerned they should just tell the old folks on liimited incomes that if they can prove they are limited income under say $50,000 an year...they pay half the current rates. Let the companies take an tax break off the other half not paid...the bankers did more then that and got away with it. In fact I think it's coming to just that..some kind of pro-rated expenses for those on limtied incomes. Then those that are older that have investments can still be part of the paying world and those so desparetly in need with have some of their problems relieved. At least enough they aren't going cold or hungry in the world. Only other suggestion would be to set things up so people can help themselves to "free" things to live on...such as firewood, and garden communities. Ron..just after we moved in here, I bought 10 dozen canning jars at $1.00 an dozen to can my own green beans I was growing at the time...an dozen wide mouth canning jars now cost $9.95. To buy equal size of already canned green beans of which are of not all that good quality they would be $1.16 per quart sized can. To effectively can some items you need an $90 pressure cooker canner also...though taken care of it should last for years. Only the Latter Day Saints church has opened up thier own food centers where they are willing to let you do this for free if you buy your own materials to do it with. These church "centers" will also buy in bulk food items and sell them at the lower prices to those in need also. They skip the high retail store middle-man. for people like my sister on state/federal assistance...they help in the long run the tax payers also when she uses thier services. She did work when she was younger so she's earned her keep in ways...but more then that she's an "white person" you know...and I think as long as they can manage to pay illegal hispanics for free education and give them free food...and free hand-outs by social organizations...that my sister deserves to have an equal chance. She's never had an kids so she's not contributed an bunch of little mouths and another generation of "free" hand-outs by the public sector. We are our brother's keeper...but there are times we have been made into complete "rip-offs" in the process also. that is where we need to try to balance out things more fairly. Most people are willing to live and be more independent if allowed. But it should not be with drugs and alcohol and crime activities...that takes even more of our money in the way of an police/court sytem. That again needs an healthy sort of "balance" in life. |
