At the moment it's bone on bone and very painful. In my case they tell me that there is a chance of a dormant infection from an injury 50 years ago coming back to life when they give me the new knee. I asked what then? The specialist hesitated and said, weeeeell we have antibiotics buuut! But what I asked, what are you saying? He replied, if they don't work we will have to discuss other matters. Like what I asked, he looked at me and said.....amputation! So basically I go in with two legs and might come out with one! Not much I can say about that is there? There are still lots of people worse off than me so I still consider myself lucky. |

What I find amazing is that an infection can lay dormant for all those years. All the best from David and myself, fingers crossed that everything is just fine. A friend of ours had a knee replacement 6 weeks ago and he's getting through it quite well, let's hope it's the same for you
