Thanks Ruth and David.

Seems like I might lose about 28 pounds in one hour! Just have to put my faith in the surgeon on the day and hope that the infection isn't there, or if it is that it doesn't 'wake up'.

All the best mate!! My mum is 88 and she has had the same knee done twice and is still surprisingly mobile, so should a doddle for a youngster like you!!Wink

I have had 5 ops on my knees in the last 7 yrs--my left one is bone on bone -ligaments non existant -i was down for a new knee but my weight was too high --i have lost some weight so after my experience last week i will be making an appointment for thursday to see what the prospects are for a new knee i suppose if i mentioned the word  private  i would be in very soon.Smile

Thanks to you all for the support.

I'm not concerned about the knee replacement, but my problem is the potential dormant infection. That's the unknown so no choice, will have to take the hand that is dealt.

Back from POA and all appears well. They said they would take a biopsy just in case the dormant infection wakes up and if it turns out to be the case they will know what to treat it with. That sounds reasonable to me so waiting for surgery date now, expected to be within 2 to 6 weeks.
