Smog    fortunately a thing of the past

It's what they call progress I think and is quite often responsible for the decline of the top end of such power sports....rallying suffered from it many years ago when an inexperienced driver was put in control of a Group B car and killed a few people and seriously injured others......although in his defence it has to be said the spectators where all standing on the outside of a bend ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

     Pollution.

For years I thought crowds and rallying was a mix just waiting for an accident. Never been to a rally , do like car racing in a straight line.

Contamination

I have to agree with you and even though I used to get press passes for a lot of rallies, which means you effectiveky sign your life away for the priviledge of being able to stand almost anywhere, I never took any stupid risks.......although I do remember one occasion on the Isle of Man when survival was preferable to what would have been a stunning sequence of motor-driven shots........quite possibly posthumously published by my mate, although he was standing right next to me when I uttered some prize Anglo Saxon phrases and moved somewhat quickly. Did actually speak with the driver laetr and he was most upset that we hadn't got any pics of him totally wrecking his car.......very understanding folk we have in motorsport ! ! !
