Wouldn't it make sense to find a younger person to carry out duties, after all is said and done the position is one of enormous pressure. I feel cream crackered at my tender age! What say you members....was he appointed too late in life? |

Lets hope they select a younger man for the position this time. There was mention of a Cardinal from Africa, I saw him on the news yesterday he looked much younger and stronger. We'll have to wait and see. Edited to add this link, this is spooky. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-21421810 Edited by: rustyruth at:12th February 2013 13:49 |

Let him take his rest while he can. The church will survive, it always does. Maybe one day a female Pope? Maybe a black Pope (I know longer know the politically correct word to use her. It seems to keep changing). I think it's healthy to have a good shake up now and again. |

Sinai...and people are contemplating perhaps where some day they might move the church headquarters in the world ...an move they say that they have wanted to do for an long time now. That area over there though is also in an risky situation for earthquakes....I hope they earthquake proof anything they build. AS far as this Pope goes, I think he's probably making an good choice in stepping down, everyone as they get older needs to retire. They said he announced this last March..informally. I don't think "age" should not be an dictating facotor in leaderhsip...but health/mentality maybe. One reason I have taken up writing, as it's something I can do as I age...but more then that..it's always been for the "elders" to hold history and basic wisdom.. and teach it to the younger generation...at thier leisure. He can do this more effectively if he resigns the duties of the church....which is probably quite an job of its own these days. |

Then I would like to add that in the past centuries Pope stayed in Rome and the others Leaders went there to pay their respect to him. Today, instead, Pope have to travel around the world (as the last journey in south America that he did) so the Church need a younger Pope. In the same time, it is possible that Pope is sick. |
