Yes Rod, the wick has gone out for Ronnie Corbett who has died at the age of 85 years. He will probably be best remembered for the BBC comedy sketch 'The Two Ronnies'.

Prince was multi-talented, not only as a performer in his own right, but also produced music for many other great performers (I am thinking of the legendary Mavis Staples) and had his own Record Label Paisley Park. Another musical talent who will be sadly missed.

Actor Burt Kwouk, OBE aged 85. Probably best known for Inspector Clouseau's hapless manservant Cato in the Pink Panther films, and more latterly, appearing in TVs Last of the Summer Wine.

Gene Wilder has died aged 83 years.

I was with Gene Wilder in the Randolph Hotel in Oxford where he shook my hand and thanked me for driving him safely from one location to another. He was a really great guy and an equally great actor who will be sadly missed by all.

RIP Leonard Cohen. A complex man and deep lyrics, perfect for solo late night listening.

Indeed, Rod, Leonard Cohen was one of the greats and a favourite of mine alongside Bob Dylan. A deeply spiritual man, spending quite a long time in latter years as a Buddhist Monk, but I suspect his psyche was still intertwined with his Jewish roots (in common with Dylan). As for late night listening, I find the lyrics to be captivating but a tad melancholy at times, best taken with red wine. I hope Kaddish is said for him.
