No doubt you will all have seen the troubles errupting again in Belfast recently, but what I find difficult to understand is why these riots are led by a very young generation. What do they know about what has gone on in their Country, unless they have been 'brainwashed' by their parents.

Some of those seen on television causing mayhem are no more than shool children, so where are the parents, how come the kids are so wound up?

Could it be lack of guidance, unemployment, lack of money generally, lack of interest in anything other than attacking the police over an Orange Order March, through an area that realistically should be open for all, it's part of their Country.

I think another major problem is that the television cameras are there broadcasting to the world so another opportunity to say 'look at me, I was jumping up and down on a coppers vehicle' or similar 'a great crack', I think not!

Really not funny you guys, march peacefully and get your message home!

Hi Ron

The trouble is Ron that we are passing the point of no return anger is directed in different ways, it may have no bearing what so ever on the subject in question.

I agree that a certain element of the crowds just want to have a go at the Police

It is the melase that governments have created the Police are just there for the crowds to vent this deep seated anger on, when its the establishment to where the anger is directed.

I feel very sorry for the Police having to put up with this sort of trouble

Unfortunately extremists cause trouble throughout the world and have always done so. Naturally it is the young who have the energy to take the battle to the streets, but they are merely following the prejudices of their elders.  Any excuse will do to justify conflict: Religion, Politics, Race, Territory..you name it, someone will find a reason for conflict. There is nothing new under the sun as the Preacher says.

Having expressed that somewhat cynical view, people should not be discouraged from visiting Northern Ireland because of  localised outbreaks of street violence in Belfast. I have only visited Northern Ireland once, but it is a beautiful area with charming people and the chance of encountering trouble is very small.
