I don't know John, I'm still having trouble pinning down which county we may be in. Vince sort of hinted away from Cornwall.

I've had a look into Surrey folklore, with a view to Box Hill being invloved with the two wheeled steeds, and I've come up with nothing that fits Frown

No I can't find anything about a maiden and her king either John, which has me thinking we might be in the wrong area.

Arundel Castle, West Sussex, I can find a connection with a maiden killing herself and haunting the place, but not much else.

I came up with the Surrey Cycling Circuit used in 2012 for Olympics and its an area of ONB, but can't tie it in with the maiden (might get arrested!!)

Hi John, the Surrey Cycling circuit is certainly where the two wheel steeds pass by but we are not at Box Hill.

By the way , the circuit was used again on August the 4th this year for another cycle race ( Boris Johnson made it all the way round) , the route was not exactly the same but we were stuck in the middle of it and I could only sus out one small lane as a way of driving out of the loop.

Back to the thread, the circuit on Aug 4th I know went past our quizzy location.

 Hi Ruth,

For a second I thought you  were onto something when I scanned your post as I saw king and John but then realised you were not referring to King John- there a clue, it was King John who was the king referred to in the quizzy's first clue.

Nah, goolgle is good and you cracked John sir.

The cycles on the Olympic circiut I think and the Prudential RideLondon did sweep down from Newlands Corner past the Silent Pool on route towards Dorking.

Well done John, I have one pic of The Silent Pool on POE, not one of my best I must say.
