The prices in the supermarkets on the continent are cheaper for alcohol, but travelling with only hand luggage we couldn't get it through security. Packing it in hold luggage is an option if you have any, but the way the baggage handlers throw the suitcases around I would be seriously worried about doing that |

Hood is getting but so far down in the valley it has missed us...they keep saying though later in the week perhaps...esp by the end of next weekend. I've got one tree done downstairs, and half the 12 footer upstairs. Just finsished off the turkey though by making turkey noodle soup and macaroni salad with turkey bits in it, black beans, celery, pickles, mayo, anything else I'll add to it later on, like cherry tomatoes and little cubes of cheese...tired now...think I'll go an rest an bit. Talk later on, looked over Dave's pictures...but will have to take an second look maybe. Welcome back Neil...I could use some muscle mediations...laughs, mind tend to creak and shrink in cold weather I think. I leave brain washing tea towels all over...with snowmen on them that says.".Warm wishes"...get my frame of mind set correctly. I'm on an cookie run next I think...going to need to go shopping also before the bad weather sets in...did I tell you all I am trying an different kind of 2 per cent milk on my sister...it still has vits. A and D added, but is 60 per cent more protein and 30 per cent less sugar in it...she's diabetic. It is something new that came out...told her to try it on breakfast cereal..and it "keeps" about twice the amount of time as most milk. Cost a lot more though. Hope it suits her well. |
Sk Lawson Posts: 4014 Joined: 7th Oct 2010 Location: USA | Posted at 08:02 on 4th December 2013 Well, the cold air is here now at 10 pm it was 24 degrees...and intends to stay that way for an couple of days...until some rain showers might turn it into snow before it all leaves. Sure am glad for the kettle of the Turkey noodle soup. I'm looking at an cob built house over in earthboppin..sounds like he's from England...he did an pretty good and thoughtful job on it's building. He did something I've long amired in our anscestors in general....the ablity to utilize the entire building space, such as windows and walls and inside and outside. Imagine the space saved inside by using an tin tub for bathing in and then hanging it outside when not in use. That's about 6 feet of space you could use in your bathroom to install an utilty area instead....and move that tub next to the fireplace roaring away for warmth when you do want to use it. Wonder how he drains it, maybe an spigot that an hose can attach to?...just run it out the door maybe. I was reading one time that in log cabins, they would take the bathwater afterwards of sweeping the floor and wash it down with it..it made the wood flooring swell and keep out cracks that would chill the air in the winter time...also any bugs that might come through the cracks also. This guy used what looked like clay tiles for flooring. Large overhanging thatched roofing. this thing cost him f150 for nails mostly...he calls it his "summer home". Think I'll go get em some soup while I'm thinking about it...I fell asleep after my bath and slept about 2 1/2 hours earlier tonight. Whilst my daughter in-law and sissy and her brother came in and hubby was at the store...she set up an modem waiting for him to come back..he was off getting my new ornament hangers for the tree I have yet to finsish. I woke up to grandpa and grandson headed out for Scout meeting tonight...but I still hugged my grandson before they took off. Sounds like everyone I talked to tonight is getting ready for the snow possibly ahead by getting things taken care before it arrives.....Talk to you all later on. |
