I have just read that a customer wanting to buy alcohol at Marks & Spencer was told to go away and find another check-out by a Muslim member of staff.

Not only is this rude beyond belief, but M & S should not employ people with such sensitivities at their customer interface.  I am not a great fan of M & S anyway, but I certainly would not go in there now.

Can't remember when I last went into an M&S store. That attitude is intolerable as these people should not inflict their religions, morals or whatever else you want to call them on others. But you can bet that M&S will will have some excuse and back the emloyee.

I wonder how soon it will be that we see certain tills with signs up saying 'No Alcohol' through this till

Just one more nail in the coffin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the western world is heading into a disaster untold if it allows the Muslim world to outbreed the western society and therby take control by default a war concluded without weapons.

It may be too late already?

Totally agree with your comments, sack the employee I say and as Neil suggests start getting a grip before it's too late!

I said in a thread elsewhere, we are so b....y stupid in this Country! We wouldn't get away with it in 'their' Country would we? They moan about everything, want to change our way of living and shout racist whenever it suits them.

We need a real change to happen in this Country and the only way it's going to happen is by voting for UKIP so don't be mislead and don't forget as the Election approaches. They will try to change our minds with offers of 'goodies' from all angles, but don't fall for it.

UKIP will have a say in all areas throughout our fast disappearing wonderful land at the next Election, lets make sure they get the support!

Last time a bought a bottle of wine in M&S a couple of years ago I got asked by some half wit young man on the checkout if I was over 21, I didn't know whether to feel flattered or reply with some snarky comment - the snarky comment won. I haven't bothered since.

Sort your employees out M&S, I just come through a checkout in Tesco manned by a young Muslim girl with a box of wine, no problem.

That's it then, M&S needs to be on the POE list for Bad Service.

I think 'Boycott' is the only word they understand Ruth.

I will add them shortly, unless somebody gets to it first

Some geezer on television just said "whats the problem, why make a big deal of it" and so yes that sums it up, why did the employee make a big deal of it?

In my day you did what the employer asked of you, so in my opinion he/she should think him/herself lucky he/she has a job!

Could it be there was an ulterior motive here? Like sack me and I'll sue you for ignoring my human rights?

I say get rid of that, as well as get out of Europe.

Just thinking about this, there is a really nice off licence in the village my mum lives in. It is a family business, a Muslim family business, it's been there for years. They've even branched out and one of the older sons and his wife run another off licence a few miles away.

You couldn't wish to meet a more helpful friendly family. So what's up with the 'others' who act in this strange way ?

I think you're right Ron, sack me then I'll sue you, religion doesn't come into it, money does.

The tag-line 'Your M&S' sounds a bit hollow now.

If they turn away English people, it's definitely not 'My M&S' . May it go the way of Woolworths.

I had a similar problem a while back in Morrisons--we had a trolley with goods and on reaching the check-out was told by this muslim woman that her time was up there was no card on the slide saying this so quite politely i said if you dont serve me it can stay where it is so i left it near the check-out and walked off and complained to customer relations about the cashiers attitude--the next time we went in she was stacking fixtures -maybe someone else had complained.Smile
