The first thing that comes to mind having to be done out of necessity (auto spell correction ON) is repairing/re building the walkway from the mainland to Holy Island. Thing is I think Lindisfarne Castle might be later than the 14th century. Also the car park bit doesn't fit as it would have been flooded twice a day.

We were up there a couple of years ago Andy, it is really beautiful, we were blessed with good weather too.

Don't know where I got the car park from Undecided

Back to thinking again.

I thought the Humber Bridge John at first, I've been there many times but I can't recall a castle in the area. Maybe I just wasn't looking. Then there's the park ?

Thinking about it, the Humber Bridge was way before 1990.

I've got a book on castles John, but not bridges, I'm trying to find a castle near water built in the 14th century, it's surprising how many of them are earlier.
