Are we looking for the oldest Inn or Coaching House ?

Some of them used to brew their own ale, but don't any longer.

I know there is a very old one in Leeds, the one in our village is 1307 so I think that might be quite new. I'll have to have a think about this.

There's a pub in Stow on the Wold claims to be the oldest that I once saw on a bike ride but thats about my limits on old pubs

I think John has a Nottingham connection, I seem to remember.  Looking in a very old Good Pub Guide book I've come up with The Old Trip to Jerusalem. I've found out that Crusaders used to stop there on their travels, but I don't know what's worshipped there now.
