It may be snowing, but hey at least you can shovel that into a heap whereas with our water, well what can you do with it? You can't dig a hole and bury it, you can't burn it and right now the Somerset Levels are under 4 feet of the stuff! I think there is only one answer and that is to build huge 'land freezers' to take the excess and then store it awaiting the time when we get the drought, as we most surely will. |

If freeze comes at the end of the week as promised I dread to think what it's going to be like in Somerset. Have a nice time in town James, catch you later |

Not sounding at all very good. Charlie is the guy that made me the rosary out of an paper clip that;s an angel with and small chip of Ruby in it...he don't sell them, you can't ask him for one, he makes them up and gies to whoever he wants to...ususally someone he thinks is an good person and needs protection or help in some way. He was one of them was around during my heart operation. But he's an very caring person, hug family...and you can ususally trust him at his word. So I hope if there's anyway to batten down the hatches as they say...your jolly spot doing it before the end of the weekend. Our so called "supermoon" arrives then. Supposedly we get our rain tonight. There's no way to drain four feet of water other then dig an lower ditch some place or use an pump that fills an tanker truck and trucking it out...New York has been snow blowing into the back of dump trucks and hauling it down to the shore line of the Atlantic ocean to clean the city streets there. .They have few areas open to dump anywhere near by. When our street flooded one time, the fire department came out and ran an pump line down to the end of the street to pump excess water in an different route, that could drain the street better, as the street drains couldn't handle the excess water..It helped and then some. Prior to that it was running over my neighbors driveway and down along side the house like an virtual creek...and was half over the sidewalk and inching toward my house.I might add this storm was an exception of once in all the 35 years we have lived here. They came out the next week and installed bigger and better storm drains in the street. We just had an whole street back then of emergency vehicles out front with lights blinking and radio's talking and police setting up baracades. Within in an hour, it was all gone. But we have taken some precautions since then, like what we put in our downstairs...just in case. She doesn't use her garage for any kind of storage on the floor also next door. She has an huge tree now along the sides of our fence to help soak up ground water also. I graveled along side my house to to raise it up better on my side next to my house...and I have an tree and bushes out front on long our property lines as well. We go out an rake the leaves away if we see the drains are clogged also. We don't wait until afterwarrds, but when it first starts raining or becomes clogged up. Not to much more we can do. You can save your house if you wrap 4 by 8 planks of wood in plastic and set them up against your house and sand bad it on both sides so th ewood stays firmly in place..or nail it down if possible. I've seen flooded rivers flowing around these type houses, and the houses stay unscathed from water dammage. They also don' t get washed downstream in the water current off their foundations. ...that's about all I can ofter to maybe helping you guys over there with handling the situation. Iwould add to have an hot pot of soup handy and warm crusty bread for an break in fighting the water problem....it does wonders for your attitude and make enough fo rothers helping to have an warm bowl also...you need all the freinds you can muster up in these kind of times.. I see from reading about the "Cavansih" family last night of ten generations of building on thier house...and it was an big one...what an family death can do to an person...80 per cent of everything they owned went to pay inhieritence taxes, they lost thier house to the National public trust...but tthey said they doubt they could of kept it much longer themselves because of the cost to keep it up. It needs to be said though that one wishes they could of at least kept on wing private for the family...if they had any hard times and no place to live.Thier estate and castle was where Mary Queen of Scots spent her last days in captivity being taken care of until... they beheaded her. Sad history to well meaning people. I guess I best get going for now and see what the day brings around here also. Will be thinking of you all this week and hoping for the best of things.
