I've noticed an awful lot of pictures have appeared today posted by non-gold star members. I've gone back 13 pages and there are only 3 pictures so far by people who have contributed to the running of POE. I wonder why this could be be ?

I amend the above, another regular contributor has just added a couple more since I posted, so that makes 5.

There are a few more now Ruth because I have just approved them, but remember POE needs both the photos and the members new and old to make a donation, to achieve their Gold Star.

Sadly, the number of members who make a donation is minimal compared to the actual membership and yes that does irk me somewhat so if you want me to be 'less irked' (lol) please make a donation to POE now.

It's a fact that POE has been live for 12 years or more and gets tens of millions of visitors annually who use the site without the slightest consideration as to how the hosting is paid for for example. Yes, I wish they would put their hands in their pockets, allowing so much more to be done so much more quickly.

My "I wonder why this could be ?"  comment was me being irked at the fact that they've all appeared now the "Buy this Picture" icon has been added.

May be a bit of a hard sell but how about if you want to sell your photos you need to become a paying member??

I thought about that too Dave, no donation, no picture sales.

Hi All , I haven't logged in for a couple of days .... & boy what a change

I have never seen so many uploads by so many people who haven't

uploaded for a long time, .... I wonder why ???  Shame it has to take

"There might be something in it for me" ... for them to do so !

Think I share Ruth & Dave's feelings here.

Yep, gotta say there is a bit of 'that feeling' but if it helps POE then that should be all that matters!! But have to say it is a bit coincidental. But it must be said that a few of todays uploads have been from NEW members. Lets just hope these 'renewed' members have the conscience to go for the premier membership.

I have already suggested that subscribing may be ought to be considered as a REQUIREMENT for the opportunity to sell.  Be interested to see what would happen to all the uploads if that was made mandatory

Hi John, just read your previous comments and all I can say don't be too hasty. With the greatest respect to Chris and Sarah who are trying to generate much needed income, and all of us who upload hotographs whether Premier members or not, we as photographers are never gonna get rich. The main idea as I see it to gain a bit of income for POE. So I think anything we can do to help Chris and Sarah must be our main priority. I think you will find that a lot of the 'renewed' members will probably drop off soon anyway. sales are not gonna be quick as it all depends as I mentioned earlier what strategy POE takes to promote the selling of our images.

But yes there has certainly beejn a big sudden influx. For instance I uploaded a few images earlier tonight which had I uploaded yesterday would have come out on after the other as is usual ...  but today they are spread over 2 or 3 pages!!!
