If you are still running XP John, call me a cynic if you like but I reckon one of the last updates Microsoft did before pulling the plug on XP included a small programme to make it run slower ..... Thus pushing folk to look at new machines!!! Mine suddenly slowed down from what it used to be like. Got one with Windows 7 now and it's off like a rocket compared to the old one...

I'm not a Microsoft/Windows user, but haven't they pulled all support for XP as well, even security updates. As you say Dave, pushing people towards one of their newer operating systems.

I have used xp for years and found it ok --when i got my new comp. windows 7 was installed i found it a bit hard at first but after a few weeks i find it better for how long i dont know.  good luck John whatever.Smile

Only just changed to Windows 7 at home a couple of weeks ago, but haveen using at work for a couple of months so pretty well used to it now

I can't get on with Windows anything, it drove me bonkers. I've had 8 years without it and life has been a much calmer peaceful place.

Sounds like it John, routers don't cost too much but I wouldn't know about a HD, just make sure you've got everything backed up in case it does just fall apart on you.

Good afternoon its a lovely day here,

i am feeling  so much better now in myself, i walked up our town today well almost didn't fancy going out into the shops, we have alovley path all the way which is nice when the School kids aren't about,

I have windows 8 which i struggled with at first but ok now,we are Lucky as our Son In law does all our pc Problems . although don't know how we will get on when he is out of the RAF and living up in Scotland,
