Just now I heard the fire engines out for the third time today, so there are idiots out and about with fireworks. Its the same every year. Fireworks are banned here, because it is so dry. Only the City has the right to put on a firework display, which happens to be just down from where I live, so I can see them from the garden if I so choose. My fond best wishes too our other 'real' Americans. Shirley, I read about your apple pie - yummy - |

We will never get rid of the fireworks here..mainly because of the hispanics and the orientals. Thanks to Washington States fireworks codes, half this state celebrated illegally...and it's an " industry" these days for any kind of celebration...jusst is wine/booze and now recreational drugs...it's coming over from WAshington State also. Anything to make an green back dollar these days. I saw two things on this 4th of July...one was an decorated grave site of British Solidier's deaths...and memorial to their service in 1776..for many of the Englishmen lost their life here, Englishmen were the major force to founding this country in ways, they made money indeed in those early years before the problem of taxation came up...and for many of them they paid the price of the Rev. War by losing everything they owned to go back to England after the war. But there were Native Americans here, who also Native Americans..mixed European lineages.. As they say...War is Hell...and that is for both sides...but we keep right at fighting around the world.. just the same most the time. The memeorial was very nice. Then I saw an jokester touting the Boston Tea Party...by pouring in an bottle of Lipton Ice Tea into the harbor for rememberance. I doubt the tea had anything to do with the tea back then...leave it up to someone to think out of the box I guess. The War was touted for Independence and it was said that it was just an manner of time, that it is simply to hard to control situations and people thousands of miles away...so they used the taxation issue to bring it all to an head more or less. I personally have records of Lawson names on both side of the fence. There were an few of them convicted as tories, and an few of them honored as patriots to the cause. Life goes on I guess. The old Americans are having an very hard time now keeping thier idenity as "Americans" thanks to this cultural spotlight over particular values over that of just "Americanism" in general. What was done to the Native Americans in the past, is now being done to European legacies. But that is whatIrish...and back it went into history. That is what I heard we were one time...God's experiment as an "Melting pot" of all nations. |
