I went on a narrow gauge one in Wales from Aberystwyth to Devils Bridge, that was great, wonderful scenery and a nice steady pace to view it. I remember when I was little we lived in the Calder Valley and the steam trains came through going from Leeds to Manchester, stopping at Luddendenfoot where we lived (mum is still in the same house) I could watch them travelling along the valley bottom from my window, sadly they were soon replaced with diesel and the excitement of seeing them was gone. Luddendenfoot station closed years ago, now you can't even see the trains, you just hear the noise as they rush passed.

That narrow guage railway, I remember it well Ruth. It's a long way down when you're on the bridge isn't it? I was about 12 years old at the time, staying in North Wales with a family member who had the railway line running past the bottom of his garden.

In those days the journey to North Wales from Oxford took 4 hours or more in  a series II Landrover.

Last train I was noticing that was an historical steam train was one climbing the mountains out of Salt Lake City, Utah some years ago, everyone was stopping to watch it pass by. It was an historical train ride for those on it.

I'm back from the coast..no 94 degrees over there...while the Riley's came home from an week over there at Cannon BEach and the neighbors across the street took off for Coos Bay, Oregon...along the Southern Coast. It was gray fog over there..no view but you did have an beach view as it lifted up over the coastal mountains...off the beaches themselves. I guess everyone had the same idea we did...you couldn't hardly get into an restrurant any where..for lines and  lines of people...it was after 2 pm when we had kind of an lunch-dinner so we could drive back. Everything was sporting no vacancy signs also. So I thought of POE...while sitting in the Sizzler over there and ordered two cod fillets with french fries...which I've not eaten in an long long time. Plus I had an green salad, about an tablespoon of waldorf salad..and an small bowl of chowder..really small bowl and two onion rings. Finshed it off with an small bowl of chocolate pudding and an tiny pumpkin cheese cake...two tiny bites and it was gone.  Pudding was maybe twice that in bites...something like $14 total. Twasn't much. I lik ethey way you people do your fish and chips...with the chips more like long sliced potatoes then french fries. Probably not as greasy either. I didn' t notice that so much with this meal as there were so many of them..and they were salty also.We went walking after that, but not sure it did much good..it was actually cold over there on the beach...I should of taken an sweat shirt and didn't think to do so. We got an picture on the way home of my grandson on water ski's seems they had to stop by here to pick up the ski's to go out on the river today. Plus an phone call from hubby's sister "PAT" to tell him his only brother left went into the hospital recently for an heart problem similiar to mine and had an stent put in his heart also...is in recovery. I was about ready to do him in as he got this phone call driving down the road...I was finally able to tell him to "pull over and off the road"..then she hangs up.

But anyway..I managed to get ahold of an turquiose coverlet for my grandaughter's room..she wants to go turquiose and lime green.  I'll be working on the rest of that tomarrow. I had very little to eat this morning, so I doubt I did all that much damage on my diet. But I didn't log it all down.I still have that to do. I'm tired right now...so may not do it at all.  Tomarrow is another day. To many people at the coast today...I think I'd rather go there with less people all over the place. Traffic was like one big line from Portland to over there also. Just people trying to get away from the heat I guess. It was like that up at Mt. Hood recently also with all the people..at Trillium Lake also. No scenry.... just all people everywhere you look.
