The rutway was a basic form of the railway. The ship trackway Diolkos was in use across the Isthmus of Corinth. I think it was an overland stone ramp.

What is the name of the train station known to most as the station with the funny name on the Piccadilly line in London?

My knowledge of London is very limited, I've only been there once, but I do remember a station called Cockfosters.

That's the one, Ruth.Well done.

It was probably called that because in the early 16th century there was an estate granted to the cock forester (chief forester) of Enfield Chase.Tourists travelling on the Piccadilly line from Heathrow Airport hear the words"All stations to Cockfosters" and wonder what the word means.Is it about keeping roosters?
