The Second World War was a Global War that lasted from 1939-1945 and Friday 8 May 2015 is the 70th Anniversary of V E Day - Victory in Europe Day.

No doubt the occasion will be commemorated with many events across the UK but what will you be doing, what have you got arranged?

If you know of celebrations in your area, or other events celebrating V E Day they can listed here free on POE by sending an email to site owners Chris and Sarah at uk2(at)picturesofengland.com

Television coverage lets you see what our fathers, grandfathers, great grandfathers went through to keep our lands free. It was awful to say the least, the sadness and courage go hand in hand, but what a brave bunch of people! We should remember, but will we?

What say you POE members will you remember, are you doing anything special to celebrate?

BBC1 presented VE Day 70: A Party to Remember at 20:30 hrs.

What a fantastic show it was too.

During the War years and those following apparently, the UK was flooded with goods from America. Ration Books were 'Gold' (I've still got two) and the black market was established.

I guess we have the equivalent today in what's often been referred to as 'Fake Britain', but I suspect it doesn't come from America any longer.

What say you members any memories, any stories from your parents?

The trouble is these days people forget what these brave men "and women" went through--long may they be remembered??

Agree totally with that James.

It was terrible to see what they went through, but the BBC did a really good job.
