I agree with you. If you want to have certain things in control, e.g. DoF, ISO, exposure etc, then you might not get the desired effect if you use full-auto mode. If you want the images to be exactly the way you want, then you'd have to work for it. This is definitely where creativity comes in and it is fun. :)
