Here is a picture by Stephanie entitled Conker Heaven. What I'd give to be walking down this lane catching leaves and admiring the rich colours of conkers. Picture by Stephanie Jackson

It's a great autumn this year, the colours are more vibrant than ever. I remembered you putting the thread about conkers so I took some pictures. Aaron collected so many as it's pretty quiet up the lane and so there were lots. You could hear them falling from the trees as you walked. |

I love the sound of dew dropping through the leaves. I love to catch leaves as they fall. It's tradition that the first leaf you catch you make a wish. I love Autumn! |

It sits within a green shell covered in protective spines, and when opened is this most wonderfully shiny nut. In the olden days folks would gather the conkers, pick out the best ones, drill a hole through the middle and attach it to strings. Then they would have conker matches, swinging their conkers at their opponents to see whose would break first. Here is someone else's picture of a conker. http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b217/strangey05/Conkers.jpg

You can add this to your assignment of taking pictures of church interiors decorated for Harvest Festival and tractors ploughing fields . |
