I thought he might have a point, so I thought the best thing was to ask all the POElanders. We've all become a big happy family even though most of us have never met, and that's a tribute to you all. Thanks to everyone for the advice - which, unusual as it may be for me - I will take notice of! The matter is settled and the pictures stay! |

The honest friendship on this site is something you won't often come across on your travels (or surfing the net). It's ordinary people like us, getting together that makes the difference. I bet that on our day we could even change the world (if it would listen to common sense).

I know technically some photos are better than others, and professionals are much more clued up on how to use the camera, settings etc, but hey, if a photo looks good, and gives you pleasure, i see it as a good photo!! theres nothing else to it, we all see things in different ways, a good photo to one, is a bad photo to another maybe! boring is interesting to some etc. its all a matter of personal preference. A professional photographer would probably rip most of the photos on here to pieces, but loads of people get a lot of pleasure from looking at them, me included, so would that professional be correct in dismissing them? i don't think so. So Alan i'm glad the pictures are staying! |

Oh dear me. |
Posts: Joined: 1st Jan 1970 | Well said Jason and Catherine, I don’t think that there is any such thing as a bad photo, just different styles and tastes and allot of the photos that I look at on here easily match any that I see taken by professional photographers. I have people telling me that I should take a photography course, buy this camera or that one, do this, do that, but why, it’s my hobby not my chosen career, it gives me pleasure to take my shots and make mistakes along the way, I love looking back at my old work and seeing how much I have improved just by trial and error not by taking a course. People on here are great, I looked into a few amateur photography sites before finding POE and they scared me to death, I wouldn’t dare join, some just criticize your pictures and although constructive criticism can be good, I am my own worst critic anyway. The day I discovered POE was a great day for me, it’s what I had been looking for but didn’t think would exist. |
