I took some of my photos along to see if they thought they were any good. One of the photograph judges said that the Tiger photo that had a blade of grass in his mouth, should have the grass cloned out. It spoiled the photo. I thought it made the photo. He then said that a photo of my mates wife was no good, because it was out of focus. I had to explain that I used a soft focus filter to soften the wrinkles. When he showed us his award winning photos, a white wall with a miniscule white cat that i thought was extremely boreing, I left and never went back. As you say, something that one person loves, another will hate. So I take photos for my enjoyment and hope that others will like as well. Thankfully, a lot of you on here do like some of them, and say so. For that I thank you all. So Alan, keep all your photos on here. If one person dislikes some of them, others will love them. And they do give a full fealling for the places that you have visited. Thanks for posting them. Now go and put them all back. He he he. |

The gift is yours to explore and those who are drawn to your particular talent will find you. The creater learns and grows but so do those who are drawn to him/her. It's the way God intended it I think. To try to guess at what will please others when expressing your creativity will only stifle you and is the reverse order of the way it should be. Have you ever noticed that an actor, singer, crafts person, photographer, etc, who's only goal is to "sell" his/her art never seems to do as well at the person who does it because they love it? |

Well it was my garden, DUH! I was excited that it was in my garden and took some really super shots, I couldn't' ask the bird if it would please go to my next door neighbours garden because he didn't have a fence. I've never posted there since, but I still view their pictures because they are wonderful. I'm not looking for perfection in pictures, I'm looking for England in all its beauty, and I find that here in abundance. |

I've kinda got used to having limited vision, my eye troubles started when I was 8 (and thats a few months ago, now) so I wouldn't wish it onto anyone else.

I'm glad you decided to keep all your pics up - they're lovely and I believe they have a theme to them - that great town you live in and the fact that they still have celebrations that involve the whole community. It's great, especially for someone like me who lives in a big suburban city. There isn't that sense of community here like you have in a town like Spennymoor. I love to look at the "event" pics on this site as well as the scenery shots. Gives me more of a sense of the real England.

I'd asked Northern Arts if they would fund a new 'self help group' for writers. What they actually did was to put a local published author, in charge for six weeks to get it 'up and running' then cut it loose. I packed in after a month, because the silly bits of 'homework' we were expected to do like good little children got in the way of my writing. You're right Peter 100%. Photography, writing, whatever the hobby, is for enjoyment.

I love browsing through the pictures thast have been posted on this site, some of them, like the Leeds Tour, bring back memories - very special ones! The time I spent in that beautiful city with my lovely young wife are with me again when I browse. A picture has no need of words, because every viewer adds to it their own special memories and attarchments. I wouldn't have it any other way. |

Well said, guys. I can remember about a couple of posts trying to go on that line some time ago (photography tips I think). All that followed was an icy silence lol ;). |
