Ireland is covered with sheep too. The winter scarf I bought there is from the Foxford mills in County Mayo.

There are quite a few explanations as to why it is called the Black Country - the area incorporates a large coal seam which was mined in the Industrial Revolution and the area was also black with factory smog from all the factories that used to be here which is probably how it go its name. My favourite explanation is that Queen Victoria travelled through the area by train as was reported to have shut the curtains as she didn't want to look at such a "Black Country"! Sally - my husband's father came from Walsall too - on the edge of the Black Country but definitely the real deal! http://www.picturesofengland.com/England/West_Midlands/article/1064 Love the sheep tour Cathy - great idea!Edited by: Stephanie Jackson at:13th February 2010 07:04 |

Peggy has got a gorgeous snowdrop tour, thinking of Spring Peggy? Stephanie has a tour of Beautiful British Beaches which was so good to look at after a very, very hot day here And Sally has started a tour called Any Old Iron, which will probably be fascinating. Great stuff to surf through (no pun intended Stephanie), lol |

The wheels are already turning in my head for the next time we come over. We may just have to skip Ireland this time, so we can do Wales which isn't too far from the Black Country.

Love the tours everyone and glad you like mine. I haven't quite finished the beach one yet but it is nearly there. |

You have put some hard work into these Cathy! I love your other two new tours too Cathy - I submitted a picture of a baby donkey & mother yesterday taken at Bodenham - we saw the donkey when she was pregnant so it was lovely to see.
