You forgot 'Pisshill' Michael. Pishill (generally pronounced 'pishle' rather than 'piss hill') is a small hamlet some 5 or 6 miles north of Henley on Thames, Oxfordshire. Any connection with the Beatles? You bet, but I wonder who knows?

George and Ringo used to gig at the pub there!
Spot on Cathy. Have you been talking to that Paul again? LOL

I've been to the pub at Pishill.

Here you go.

What's up with the palm trees?

Which reminds me, we have a lovely old (former) hotel in Phoenix, Arizona named after an English town.

Until I joined here, I'd no idea that Westward Ho was a town name.

Here's one of the town in England:

Lovely shot, Stephanie.  And yet another palm tree.  An island paradise England is, for sure.  Smile

Thanks Ruth - I loved the different colour houses in that street! I think Westward Ho! is named after a book. Will have to look it up when I have chance.

Stephanie - according to one source -

Wyre (district) Lancs. A modern adoption of the Lancs. river-name Wyre, perhaps of Celtic origin and meaning ‘winding river’. Piddle being derived from the evocatively-titled Piddle Brook which runs through the village.

Stephanie, that's my post immediately preceding.  It appeared I was still logged in, but apparently I wasn't.
