Just a quick backtrack to Alfriston and I think this is the Cergy House owned by the National Trust and has the honour of being the first ever National Trust property.

Thanks so much for adding pics and information Vince.  I suppose I should have visited Crawley as I have family there, but I couldn't fit it into the route. I have flown into Gatwick Airport and also taken the coach from Heathrow to Gatwick.  Great service that and the coach travels through a surprising amount of scenic countryside even though it's motorway.

Well, I can't put a picture of Crawley because there aren't any!!!! Can anyone fill the gap??  So I will add a picture of Faygate which is close to Crawley.  This is Faygate Place once the home of Lord & Lady Hawke where my mother was housekeeper/companion for over 20 years

Thank you so much for adding Bodiam Castle Ruth, it is so beautiful and you stopped me making a big mistake coz I have it on my list for KENT.  Whoops.  Good question about the colour - does it depend on the weather as to what colour the stone appears or is it software juggling??

I think it must be Charlie Chaplin, lol

Igtham Mote is gorgeous but that is definitely in Kent so we will be seeing more of that place later.

Needs slight amendment to the De La Warr Pavilion; named after the 9th Earl of and whose ancestors gave their family name to the State of Delaware.

And heading north just out of Rye, we can stop off at the Peace and Plenty pub at Playden, just a short walk from where I used to live.
