English Counties - SOMERSET - A Whistle Stop Tour

That brings us to the end of the Whistle Stop Tour of SOMERSET.  Please feel free to add any information, suggestions, recommendations, or photos to this thread.  The more information on what is available for the visitor, the better the tour possibilities become.

To end the day - A calm trip up the River Avon

There are some beautiful tiny villages in Somerset which didn't quite fit into the tour route but I think are well worth a mention and perhaps a side trip to visit them.

WINSFORD in the Exmoor National Park

OARE a tiny village towards the North Coast of Somerset, lying between Lynmouth Bay and Porlock Bay.  This village was surrounding areas were used for the setting of R D Blackmore's Lorna Doone (and the area is sometimes referred to as Doone Valley). Unfortunately we have no pictures of the cottages or church only a bridge over the River Lyn. (Anyone on POE want to rectify that missing link?)
