I had a question about one of Jason photos, and I thought it would be a good idea for a thread. Anyone have a question about a photo, location, history...whatever we can post it here. Hopefully the member will be checking the thread!! LOL!

So...Jason....tell me about this place! How old it is and what's the history!!?

It was built in 1593 by Thomas Tresham, who was a roman catholic. The three thing (three floors, three sides, three sided windows etc ...everthing is in 3's!!)   refers to the holy trinity. Catholisism was outlawed in them days. He was father of one of the gunpowder plotters!!

its spooky inside ....it was pretty much deserted apart from my family!!  so had it all to my self!!

I like spiders! I'm not afraid of spiders...now if it has ghosts, that would be even better.

Yep ...thats it Lusca. Hi Beth, its well worth a visit, although quite small and the parking is awful, just a small layby over the road! ....but if you get chance visit the church http://www.rothwellholytrinity.co.uk/  its worth seeing, although it was shut when i went. The church isn't EH.

Here is another interesting website dealing with Catholic symbolism that can be observed in Rushton Lodge: http://www.philipcoppens.com/rushton.html. The building is much more that just an Elizabethan folly--it has a sacred quality to it. I recall one account sometime back regarding Rushton Lodge, which speculated that it was presented to Thomas Tresham in a vision while he was serving time as a religious prisoner (one of many such imprisonments that he endured), and on his release, he duly constructed the building based on sacred geometry. His son Francis, along with Guy Fawkes, Robert Catesby and the other Gunpowder Plot conspirators, was not so fortunate as he died in the Tower. Recusant Catholic families during the Tudor and Jacobean reigns had a very hard time of it!
