I don't think you will have a virus, more likely a coincidence that you happened to have 'checked it' just as Chris and/or Sarah was moving stuff about the Site in an attempt to make improvements, and implement changes. They need to be always thinking of ways to try to raise cash to keep POE running, always a problem and especially so with the hosting costs. If you continue to have problems do mention it again please, but I expect there not to be any. I will of course copy this to Chris and Sarah just in case there is a problem. In the meantime, if there are any visitors or members who haven't yet attained 'Gold Star' status, who can afford to help out financially, it will be greatly appreciated. Even if you just visit the Site to look at the beautiful England pictures, a small amount helps...Thanks in anticipation.

I have noted quite few new, and very prolific, uploaders that have not gained premier status yet. Last year there was the suggestion that 'ordinary' members would have a cap put on the amount of uploads they could make but presumably this is still on the back burner. Another idea although would mean a bit more programming for Chris and Sarah but how about some sort of automatic welcome e-mail when a membership is accepted. This would be a good way of 'pushing' the Premier membership and the forums to good effect. Might have to find time to back into campaigning mode althought that usually only reaches those who are already Premier status as they seem to be the ones who frequent the forums most....Catch 22 ? ? ? Also a timely reminder that our 'annual subs' will be due before too long..... |

The following email is what I send out to all new Members: Hi , welcome to www.PicturesOfEngland.com (POE) Thanks for registering as a new member but please may I ask you to spend the next two or three minutes reading through the following information. If you can find time to join us in the forum, I think you will enjoy the many threads started by the members. Some are very funny, some serious, some helpful; especially when it comes to photographs and equipment used by what is essentially a group of amateur photographers (not wishing to offend the professionals of course). However, the forum is not the place to launch or promote your own business or website. Therefore we will not permit any type of promotion and/or domain name/email address without prior agreement. Any abuse will be treated as spam and your post and/or account deleted. However, you can further promote your business at the following link: http://www.picturesofengland.com/advertise/sponsoratown/ where your business will take pride of place throughout the pages of the town of your choice, guaranteeing exposure to our large audience and allowing visitors to click through to your businesses website. Your business will also be seen by our many members to be actively supporting this site, encouraging them to click your ad and go through to your website to see what you are all about. Our very latest and exciting update covers the launch of our sister site www.PhotoStockBritain.com that is now available to allow you to sell your photographs, but please don't forget to submit your images to POE first to qualify for a free and direct link from your photos in www.PicturesOfEngland.com to your photo's in www.PhotoStockBritain.com Please also remember that we cannot accept material copied from other website's. Please use your own words when you post in the POE forum. In fact the forum has a huge following now with members from all over the world, along with so much other interesting stuff throughout the website that you could be excused for not venturing into the forum for a while, simply because there are some 130,000 plus pages behind the front page! Get started by clicking on the following link for 'User Introductions' http://www.picturesofengland.com/forum/User_Introductions to introduce yourself to the members by starting a new thread. Good Luck! Benefit's of POE membership include your hotels and accommodation for business, weekend breaks, or vacations being cheaper when booked securely online through POE rather than by going direct to the hotels and you will also be helping to support us! Check it out by clicking on the following link http://www.picturesofengland.com/hotels/ and list your own accommodation for FREE at the following link http://www.picturesofengland.com/addproperty There's lots of information on our website relating to England's history, famous Brits, events, flags, places to visit.......the list goes on, with something in excess of 66 million page views by people interested in what POE has to offer! With that sort of exposure your photo's for sale at www.PhotoStockBritain.com (POE's sister site) could easily make an income whilst you sit back. Please join in with the fun and the banter in the forum as often as you can, and enjoy the many thousands of fabulous pictures of England submitted by the members. As moderator for POE I certainly look forward to approving your pictures of England if you have any that you are able to share with us that is. May I offer my personal thanks in anticipation of you joining us in the forum on this fabulous, family friendly website and hope you will be able to continue to support www.PicturesOfEngland.com by remembering to book your holiday/vacation, business, weekend break accommodation through our site. Perhaps you will be kind enough to save this email for future reference. Finally, and more important than anything said thus far www.PicturesOfEngland.com like all business, needs funds to survive and in fact is currently going through a crisis that could potentially see the demise of this great website and forum. Therefore, please allow me to direct you to the following link http://www.picturesofengland.com/premier where you will see various options on how you could help us. Thank you for your time Regards Ron Brind Moderator for www.picturesofengland.com (POE) |
