Cathyml, do I call you Anneka ( as in Anneka Rice and her programme "Challenge Anneka" ?

The green squares in Surrey attractions will not be so easy for us but I think in the index there is only one in the towns and villages list that is still green is Brockham, I will try and get that one sorted in the nextweek or so.

However, that will only cover the index as if you choose another village say Ashtead that too is a green square , so how can you tell how many green square places are hidden in the masses of towns and villages on POE but not particularly in the primary index linked to each county.

Be that as it may , as I said I will endeavour to grab a shot or two of Brockham as soon as I have a chance and then tell you of it's fame.

I have not heard of the programme "Challenge Anneka"?  Does she set a challenge or is she herself challenged?

It's great that you had a look to see where the "Awaiting Pictures" green squares are Vince and that you have found one that you might be able to fill.  I think that is fantastic!

I do hope others with do as you have done and let us know about them!

She was set a challenge that seemed impossible, usually something like having to build a sports hut for a youth group or maybe a play area or anything that would provide a lasting benefit for a suitable charitable cause. She would have no prior knowledge of the task, have say 2 or 3 days to do it and would have to scour the local area for volunteers and the local firms to beg borrow or donate items needed as the whole thing had to be done for free. It was on during the early 1990's

Well that sounds as though it was a really worthwhile activity!  I think I approve of that type of TV programming!

Mick try putting your own county's name in the search box top left column.  There should be a list of towns/villages and attractions.  If you scroll through them you will probably see some have no picture just a green box saying "Awaiting Pictures".  It's not an actual thread.

The episode Vince mentioned was in 1989  to lay track and restore Northiam [Kent] heritage railway station of the Kent & East Sussex Railway. The station is actually nearer Newenden ( where I was nearly killed in a car crash in 1968).  But, as Anneka gets on her mobile ringing around to find suppliers and contractors to do the job over the weekend, not all is what it seems---they're already there set to go. Can't find any pics on Poe of the station yet, so will have to dig out some of my old ones probably gone now though.

Found one on Poe; Northiam station no where near Northiam. When Anneka takes the flower hanging baskets out of her dune buggy, the village in the distant background is Newenden.

Cathy, thank you.  Yes I have seen that some places do not have a photo (I solved one !) but I thought there was a thread, my mistake.  Seems strange that there are some vacant areas, think I will look for areas I can reach then try and get something.  All good fun is it not !
