You're missing out Lyn. Although I'm originally from Portsmouth, I've lived in Yorkshire for the past eleven years...it really is worth a visit. North Yorkshire especially is fabulous, but bring a range of clothes....four seasons in one day and all that. Thanks for leaving comments.....I'll be doing the same all around this site. Which reminds me, apart from people visiting me, how can I find other members here? That's an open question BTW.

I have just been looking at your pictures of Kirkham Priory, they are wonderful, and I wanted to leave a comment under every one of them. As I looked at this first picture, I could visualize the people from ages past walking into the priory, milling around the grounds.

And then when I saw this picture, I looked at those inner stones, and wondered, who built this? What kind of life did they lead? I love history, I'm a firm believer that we shouldn't forget those who have gone before us, and especially appreciate those who left such beautiful works as a memorial of the past.

Great pictures Andy. Kirkham Priory is now on my list of places to visit.

On its' own

Wonderful pictures. I agree with all you said Sue...I sometimes look at the remains of the City Walls in Worcester and wonder about the people who built it...And all the ancient buildings that we come across are testament to our forebears who lived and existed once, as we do now, just further back in the stream of Time.
