It was my first trip out of this continent, and Nadia's first trip since she was a child. She has relatives in Paris, so we went there first. Once that part of our trip was finished, we "bee-lined" it to Oxford, so I could fulfill my decades-old desire to visit the haunts of C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien. Once I knew we were really going on this trip, one of the first things I did was to search the web for a Lewis tour - and found Mr. Brind's website. And I am so glad that I did, for it was for me the highlight of my trip (in that I don't speak French .... No insult meant towards Nadia's relatives - they were very warm and accepting of me despite my "handicap!") So by way of introduction, I am a mechanical engineer, and a native of California. I was born in 1954, in the Hollywood Presbyterian Hospital, have lived in various towns throughout this state throughout my life, and now live in Yorba Linda with Nadia - my wife of 29 years. Nadia is a registered nurse, and works in an administrative role for a corporation that owns 5 hospitals. We raised our one and only son (Aaron) here in Southern California, home-schooled him through high school, and now he and his wife (Janelle) are law students in Pepperdine Law School, Malibu, CA. He and Janelle lived in London for 6 months while he completed his third semester at Pepperdine's campus in London. Nadia and I were not able to get over there during that time, so he and Janelle decided to make an anniversary gift of airflight tickets to Heathrow for us. My hobbies and interests include: gardening; woodworking; reading; scuba diving; backpacking; sculpture; leather working and Christian apologetics. Nadia likes to read; garden; create bead jewelry; cook and sew. As time permits, I will be adding some of the pictures we took of Oxford and our C.S. Lewis tour, and of some of the things I have made in wood and leather. I look forward to hearing from you too. Warm Regards, Dennis R. White

Funny (and that's just the members), well some of them anyway! Pictures Of England.com ...interesting and informative, especially so when it comes to some of the questions re photography because this fantastic website is all about pictures of England, brilliant pictures of our beautiful England on every imagineable subject. However, once you dare to start exploration of POE I guarantee that you will become hooked as you delve into the various pages (many tens of thousands in fact) that cover our history, maps, attractions, hotels to book online etc. There are many thousands of towns to visit by using the Search Box at the top left of each page, along with a huge amount of information on some of the prettiest places to visit from your armchair. You will notice from Lyn's comment above that there is usually a rush to be first to greet a new member, and because it's normally ME it becomes a big deal to beat Ron to it, so congratulations to Karen and Lyn (begrudgingly). Enjoy the banter Dennis and Nadia (where's Nadia's account?) and join in when you can. Oh and don't forget to post those pics!

With all those hobbies, how have you got time for anything else? Please come in and join us in the forum's. We have a lot of fun, even insulting each other. But it is all in good humour. Beware of that Ron though, he is a real mean man. He he he. But please join in and have fun. |

I haven't figured that one out yet. (Please don't expose my computer illiteracy! I'm a mechanical engineer, so it could damage my reputation!) Thanks for the welcome messages. Dennis
