I was looking over some of the posts when I found this site, you all sound so neighborly in ways, dcided to come in and tell you that "Ringo Starr" is going to be about 3 miles from me tonight or tommarrow in live concert here. OH, how I remember the "Brtiish Invasion" in my high school days!!! I have an internet buddy I talk to that's crzay about Amy Winehouse music and I keep seeing her in the paper in trouble. Hum.

Your pictures here remind me of what I grew up in this area of Oregon until the housing invasion started in the 70's, what was 3,000 people growing up. is now 100,000 and still going. What orginally got me here was genealogy work, and it reminded me of an old magazine I use to buy (Colonial Homes) and how they did "sister" names of cities around the Globe, in this case Northfolk, Virgnia USA and Norfolk,England. I use to like seeing them, though I dont' think the magazine is still in publication..not sure....time goes on....a bit about me, I'm an grandmother, an mother of one, an son and three kids, and they all live with me...daughter in-law also. Plus two dogs, two cats, three birds and a huge tank of fish, that are currently "earthquake" predictors of an sort. They would all love your area I know. Green, flat for running room, fresh air and water.Came here and I am trying to find out information on "Lawkland" and/or the Lawson family...and the Planegante..some of the former are saying they were some of the former. Ha!  You know that gets them banished or toast on the fire like an "hot dog" at tmes..*giggles. Say, I bought an Great Brtiain cookbook the other day, and I so did enjoy reading it, receipes like "pip and sqeak" for one of them. We use to go to Brtisih Columbia, Canada in the past when fuel prices werent' so high, it's about an 4 hour drive from me, and I enjoyed the culture there(and the World's Exposition one year)...keep what is unique about your culture people! Let us be the "melting pot" for the world if need be. I'm having computer problems, I may have to get me another keyboard as this thing is just mispelling and jumping all over like it's got "ants" in the pants...err..keyboard.. as they say. I look at your beach scenes here and I know my son and his All-terrain-"play toys" would love driving them..never fear, he'll never get over there most likely. He drives an huge huge refrigteration truck...we call them 18-wheelers here and picks up and delivers fresh fruit and  vegtables from warehouses all over to one central one here to be distributed to major grocery stores. My hubby into the tree nursery business, and he has an office job doing "inventory" for an large nursery, my daughter in-law drives an school bus when school is in session, everyone now is on summer vacation, waitng for her 16 year old cousin to fly back in today from Calfornia, where it's been 110 degrees here lately, he's our back-up babysitter because I had an heart operation and they tell me I can't do babysitiing now until the kids are old enough to call for emergency services if something should happen to me on thier own. Younges tone is four and the other two in school. Sure has changed my life and yet, it's freed it up also in other ways to do other things as well.  Genealogy is one of them. Not that I'm making an lot of progress in it in ways. Since everyone is asking questions...can I ask one...What do you people think of the UFO Crop circles? I think every book I pick up on Ley lines and phenomen it starts with those churches in England in some way. I like to listen to the radio talk show "Coast to coast" when I can. Enough for now. Have an good day and many blessings. (yes, I'm an gabby old lady..winks*)

Hi Shirley - Welcome to POE!  Allow me to be the first to welcome you.  I'm in Arizona, but the Brits will be waking up in a couple of hours.  They have a little competition here to be the first to welcome the newbies.  Every now and then the time difference works in my favor.  Sounds like quite a busy life you have there.  I've not been to Oregon, but one of these days.  You will love this website - a feast for the eyes and some great chatter too - "mad lot" is a good description.  Hope you have fun here, Shirley.

There's a UFO thread among these where crop circles were briefly discussed.  Check it out.

Been about everywhere else up and down and back an forth here through the years though. It will take some time to find some pictures to post also..but bare with me, eventually.!!! Thanks for the welcome.

Hello Shirley and welcome to the site. Great British cookbook? Most of the recipes are like a timewarp back to the 1950s, are they not?
