When I was in my late twenties I wanted to become certified to teach English as a language. However, the school I was interested in attending required their students to have a college degree, and they had to speak at least one other language (other than English) fluently.

I knew that I did not qualify for either of those criteria, so I devised a plan. Rather than conducting my interview over the phone, I booked a flight to San Francisco and made an appointment to do my interview in person.  It was my hope that by presenting myself in person, I would be able to convince the school board to accept me.  The long and the short of it is, I did convince them and graduated with my certificate.  It was a defining moment in my life, and I'll never forget it.

I suppose mine was after I came out of hospital (finally!) after having my twins, and walking down to the village where I live and everyone looking in the pram and congratulating me.

One of my proudest moments was years ago when my stepchildren asked,

" Can we call you Dad?"

Cheers for Paul! Amazing what one can do when they put their heart mind and soul into it and not be discouraged by those who are negatively inclined! You are a great example for the youth of today!

That's a great proudest moment - they are lucky to have you as their Dad.
