Hi, All!  As a newcomer, I have a question about copyright.  I'm not a photographer, but might place a few here.  Has there already been a discussion in one of the forums on whether or not one should obtain copyright on one's own photos before placing them in the public domain?  Ron told me it is automatic, if I took the photo myself.  Would that be the same in the US as in the UK?  Is there any advantage to obtaining documented copyright anyway? If it was not taken with a digital camera, can it still hold exif info?  Thanks.

Not sure Wanda,

But welcome to POE anyway!!Laughing

I upload smaller pics so if people do pinch them they are pretty unusable, the quality really wouldn't be very good at all. But i think Ron is right, copyright will remain yours. Difficult to enforce probably though.

Hello Wanda, welcome again and nice to see you in the forum. Although you didn't mention USA copyright specifically in our private email, I would guess the same applies, but it's something that may well be answered by our members in due course. Here in the UK copyright remains with the original photographer. Enjoy the site, the very best on the web and join in with the discussion and banter when you can. By the way, don't upload your pics too small or they will not be able to be approved. I'll let you know if that is the case when you submit your first picture.
