 Good Evening Everyone,

I may have been a bit premature diving into a thread on star rating before introducing myself. So to set the record straight, here a little info about myself

So what do you want to know: I'm 41 years old, 6 foot 4 inch tall, 15 stone, have a good sense of humour and enjoy country walks and romantic meals by a log fire (Oh hang on a minute, this is not a dating agency, is it?).

Along time ago in a country far away, I was born in the village of Burbage, Leicestershire. With my Father being a Farm labourer and my Mother a farmers daughter, my childhood was very rural. Holidays and weekends were spent on farms (favorite past times were muckspreading and baling) and I have great respect to how farming and large estates have shaped the countryside.

Spending my youth and formative years (who am I kidding I'm still in my formative years) camping and trekking in the UK, I developed a great appreciation for the countryside and was drawn to this site so as to remind me of the many reasons to return to the UK. Favorite locations being Northumbria, Yorkshire dales, Peak District, South Derbyshire, Rutland.....Well all of it really.

I miss many aspects of England, although Thailand is beautiful in different ways to UK, but the continuous good weather, beautiful girls and great food can be a real bore :-( as I'm sure you'll appreciate.

I've been keen on photography since the age of 17, and after countless camera's both film, digital, 35mm and medium format it has dawned on me that its not the equipment but the image that matters. I really appreciate the work contributors have put into this site, but I'm also critical, so sorry I'll keep my 5-stars for the truly stunning images (of which there are many) and comment and award fewer stars to other images.

Oh did I mention I'm a coward, because I'm in Thailand I do not have access to my images of England, so I'm sure you'll soon tire of not being able to judge my images, but I promise as soon as I return I'll put myself in the firing line.

Best Regards

 Ian

Welcome to the forum Ian. We will wait patiently for you to retrieve your pictures from England, and look forward to seeing them. Until then feel free to jump into any thread and join the fun.

no need to apologize, you can award as many stars as you feel the picture deserves, and I'm sure nobody will be offended by any constructive criticism. Obviously most of us are amateurs, and don't post the mind blowing pictures you can find on other photography sites, but I know some of us are really eager to better ourselves in our burgeoning skills.

Iam, your introduction reads like the beginning of a cozy book. Have you ever written anything else for the general public to read? Maybe you should if you haven't. Ever thought of that? I am not a writer nor a photographer. I have a little camera someone bought me, but have only taken about two rolls of film. I'd rather gets the pics from my family or somewhere else. The pics I saved of England (the countryside) are breathtaking. I want to go there and sit and watch the sun go down and bask in the goodness of nature.            Bye for now,                Jeanne Irvin    (USA)
