Saugerties in a small town about 100 miles up the Hudson River from New York whose main claim to fame was the 2nd Woodstock Rock Concert. Although I was taken on a tour of the site by a town official just prior to the event I didn’t attend. I am a soon to be 65 year old retired gentleman who is able to spend the majority of his time with hobbies of which I have a number & always looking for more. Although I do enjoy photography as a hobby, I wouldn’t say I even rate as high as an amateur, but do enjoy taking pictures now & then. I have done some editing of new & repair of old photos & using them with video in making home movies of my family history. I have much to learn. Genealogy is my primary hobby & the reason why I came across POE. Most of my other hobbies are as a result of that or involved with it. A large part of my ancestry came to the New England / New York areas from all over England prior to 1700, a number of them on the Mayflower. I hope to visit the areas that they left to come here. I worked for nearly 40 years for Philips & visited a number of factories in Europe over the years. One of the last, was one in Southport, England. While I spent most of that visit working, my wife who had come along, enjoyed seeing much of Merseyside & Liverpool with friends that she met early in the visit. We both enjoyed the country and the people we met. We hope to visit England many more times.

Glad you enjoy the site and hope you can join us in the forum threads for a bit of family fun! I am sure you can tell I have a big family history from England too just from my name. Although I haven't been to England yet I hope to visit soon! My great uncle was a genealogist. He traced the England family to the late 1600's and has published a book which now resides in the Federal Library. It is titled "Joseph England and His Descendants" by C. Walter England. |

Also noticed & checked out her tour web site & I am very interested in that as well. My wife & I have planed on vacation trips to England for quite some time. What she offers is just what we had in mind. Solves one of my problems of my having to drive on the "wrong" side of the road.….. Afraid that I might hurt someone before I got squared away with that. We are both retired and would normally be free to go at any time, but my own health issues & now the economy present problems for us. Only have recently joined the POE site (1 day) & have learned a lot already without even doing what I had intended to in the first place, that being looking at scenes of ancestral hometowns. Appreciate the warm welcome & looking forward to a lot of good times with all of you. Thanks, Catherine....... I'll check out that chat as well |

I've dabbled in geneology, it's very addictive and I had to put it aside while the children were little. Probably time I got back into it again. I'm glad that you have found POE, and I know you will love looking at all the pictures. Look forward to seeing you here on the forums. |
