For starters you can get your UK hotels cheaper by booking securely online (rather than going direct to the hotels) through this website which helps to support it. Then you can view just about every corner of this beautiful land through the submitted members pictures, which I hope you will add to after your own visit. Hi Debbie, welcome, You may find it less expensive to fly into Manchester and hire a car. 1 hours drive north will put you in the fanastic Lake District of counties Cumbria, north Lancashire and North Yorkshire, all beautiful areas within 1 hours drive on exellent roads. bet you wont want to go home!!! See some of the pics on this site of these counties.

Hello, Debbie, and welcome to PoE!  What part of Alabama are you from?  I'm a native of Birmingham, born there and lived there until I was 28.

I've been to England twice (once in May and once in September), both times flying into Heathrow, staying in London for 3 days, then hiring a car to head out into the countryside.  We had gorgeous weather both times.  Our primary target was the Cotswolds area (and North Wales one time), but if you don't mind driving over there, it's a wonderful way to see the beautiful countryside; and anywhere you go you won't be disappointed.  We've enjoyed staying in B&Bs as well as hiring a self-catering cottage.  You may have to throw darts at a map of England in order to decide where to go!  I'm dying to go back again myself.  Enjoy!
