Hi Debbie and welcome to POE.

I currently live in Virginia Beach, but because I am also in the Navy I had the privelge of living in Cornwall, England...absolutely gorgeous there.  I lived in a village called Crantock and there is where I left my heart.  The people are wonderful, warm, genuine and now life long friends.  There is a B&B called Carden Cottage that is the best, and the owners are the best.  I just know that you will love your visit to England and I wish you the very best.

Donna

Hi Debbie: Welcome from me too.  I'm in Phoenix and the only time I've been to Birmingham is when we drove thru it on our way out here in 1982 (originally from PA).  I've only been to England  once in Nov. 2007 but we decided on where to go based on surfing this lovely site.  You can surf by county and see what suits your fancy.  If it's scenery and history you love, North Yorkshire is wonderful.  That's where we ended up.  If you don't want to rent a car and drive, the  public tranportation system is amazing over there (just pack light).  Hope you love the website and have fun planning your trip.  The planning is half the fun.
