Hi Everybody. We just returned to the US from a wonderful year in Totnes Devon. I thought I had died and gone to heaven in the SouthHams. I cried all the way back to the states. My husband and I had retired and set out to see the world, found SW England and wanted to stay forever. We are determined to get back to the UK and grow roots there. This site is such a treasure when we get homesick for Devon. We look at pictures and start remembering the day we were in that spot. Thanks to all the great people who share their photos with others. We hope be adding our own quite soon. And iif anybody has questions about the area I would be delighted to answer them if I can.

Welcome to POE (Pictures of England) Joanna.

What a wonderful opportunity for you to spend so long in Cornwall, and it's not at all surprising that you fell in love with the place.

Continue loving the pictures, and we hope to see you here on the forums too.

Thank you everyone for the welcome. I am sure I will enjoy it here very much. I'm sorry about the name confusion. My name is actually Cynthia Joannah. But when another Cynthia outranked me at work years ago I began to use my midddle name and now prefer it. Just forget to use it when filling forms sometimes.

Debbie, I am so glad to tell you about Devon . It is the most beautiful place I have ever set eyes on and there are things you mustn't miss. I am afraid I would write a book for you and irritate other forum members posting a long review here. Is there some other way to send a lot of info to one member without irking other users? I am new and don't know the protocol so would appreciate asvice. Thanks

Welcome Joannah! Yes you can go to Debbie's profile and there is a part in there where you can send her a personal message. Just click on here name in her post above and it should take you there - there is an option "Contact this Member" click on that and you can send the message. However I am sure that everyone would be interested in your visit - it helps other members decide if they want to visit too!

I am a big fan of South Hams too - we return every May to a lovely cottage we have found in Malborough near Salcombe. The whole area is beautiful and the beaches around Salcombe are great.
