Mark...these aircraft are great workhorses of the Canadian bush country... many are flying...Tofino Air ( BC) has a beauty...silver and black... flies these coasts...lots still working north of 60...

Recent tv documentary covered the story of a test pilot who took off again in a restored ( 50's era ) Beaver, one that he used to fly, from the same  De Havilland runway he had originally used those many years ago...

Ever ride in a Spitfire?

Anna

It would be a dream come true of mine to fly a Spitfire. An ambition yet to be realised! Those Beavers really are great aeroplanes. We don't have too many float planes here in England.

Hi Mark.  Welcome from me way overseas in sunny Arizona.  You have some lovely shots - looking forward to seeing more.  I have a great regard for firefighters by the way.  Anyone who makes a career of putting themselves in harm's way to save lives and limbs and properties is heroic in my book.  Have fun at POE.

Hi Mark,

A big welcome from me, too.  I must have been away too long and come back in a time machine, because everyone looks so young! (except me, of course).

Hi everyone,
thought I would introduce myself, I live in sunny Queensland, Australia and like Mark had plans to retire at 50, not sure what happened as that date has now gone. Perhaps it was my desire to start to travel now the kids are grown and gone. As a result of the travelling I have become very interested in photography and history. I don't use a flash camera but still am satisfied with what I manage to take each trip. In 14 weeks time I will be in Ireland and the first part of 8 weeks travel. I can hardly wait. I will put up some of my past travel photos when I get some free time. Its a shame I have to work to fund these trips. Must away.
Jennifer

Hi Jennifer:  Welcome to POE.  It's a brilliant place.  The British Isles are THE BEST.  8 weeks - how I envy you.  Enjoy yourself here and if you don't have an itinerary yet, surf thru this site to get ideas about where you'd like to visit.  Have a great time here, Jennifer.

Hi Ruth,

We know where we are going and have just finished booking the accomodation. Dublin to Manchester and areas to Witby to Cambridge to Bukinghamshire to London to Amsterdam where we are booked on a 2 week river cruise to Budapest. 10 days in Germany where we will meet the daughter-in-law's parents. Russell flies home and I fly onto Cairo to meet up with the school trip to Gallipoli, Egypt and Greek islands and lastly to Athens.

We have relations in UK so meeting up with them while there but we still have to plan what we want to see the most.

Jennifer

Oh, Wow, Jennifer, that sounds fabulous, like a dream vacation.  I've been to Whitby - it's wonderful.  Hopefully you'll have a bit of time to spend in North Yorkshire, it's God's country.

Hi Jennifer

That trip sounds fantastic! I hope that the weather in the UK stays as good for you as it is at the moment. It's been warmer here this week than it is in Athens! Cool
