Hi, my name is Elaine, and i come from Arundel, QC, Canada.  This town was named after Arundel, England.  I am very proud to live in a place that reminds me of Arundel, England.

How i came across this site, is because trying to find beautiful photos of England, in general; and also, my grandmother came from Buckinghamshire.  So the process gave me all the more interest is wanting to see the area she left for Canada.

Would someday love to travel to England, so i can take my own photos to paint. I dabble with watercolour, and would love to become a good artist. Right now, i call myself an armchair traveller, because i cannot afford to travel. So thank goodness for the internet!!!  What a wonderful invention.

I am 64, and approaching that age where maybe i will oneday love to visit others places and hope the world doesn't fall apart in the meantime!!!

In the meanwhile, i work as a cashier and receptionist, at the  Golf and Country Club.  Which is a fun place.

One question,  would i have permission to paint from some of these beautiful photos?  Would really appreciate the ok. Many thanks, Elaine.

So thats, about it. - ElaineSmile

Welcome to POE from Anna and Ron also Elaine, enjoy it! As for painting from the pictures, I would suggest you ask the person who owns the copyright (the photographer) although it probably wouldn't matter because it would not be an exact copy would it? Further, if it's not a commercial venture (for sale) then nothing to worry about in my opinion. If it was to be used commercially, or sold, then you would already have the 'owners' permission.

Hi Elaine... Welcome to Pictures of England.. you'll meet lots of interesting folk and become inspired by the variety and richness of the photos here.

This site may give you a start into the details of copyright law.

A word about influence. We cannot escape influence from imagery we see, or tunes we hear...so when an artist conveys a feeling or impression  ( in a painting or a poem ) because of some kind of exposure, unless the repeated image or wording is a complete & entire duplicate of the original, the determination of ownership of idea would be difficult to illuminate. Even these words I write now, may be someone else's document somewhere, yet I have brought words together to form and express my impression, from my own history & experience.
