Hi florencia,

Welcome to the  website. As a retired teacher I look forward to you telling us about your teaching over there!

Hi Ray!

I started learning English since I was 8 years old , and I've always known that I wanted to be an English teacher, I like the idea of giving Argentinian kids the possibility of learning a new language and why not some important things about culture, history and geography of the UK.

Last month I met a girl from Wales and told me about the Educational System, which I think is interesting because it's very different from the Argentinian's system.

I hope you could tell me more about teaching in the UK, your personal experiences connected to teaching and everything you consider that will be helpful. If you want to ask me any question about teaching in Argentina, of course ask me.

I'm working as an English teacher with kids from 8 to 17 years old.

I hope I didn't have many grammatical mistakes.

Hi Florencia, its good that you learn 'english' as your second language, its then so easy to comunicate with the rest of the world. I think only the french or French speaking countries dont speak English (or they pretend not to, lol) but it realy is an important international language to be able to speak and read. good luck, I'm sure Ray will answer your teaching queries for you.

Hi Florencia,

You have studied English since you were eight years of age? You have done very well and not made any mistakes worth worrying about! I suppose if you wanted to be pedantic, you could say in your last line ' I hope I didn't make many grammatical mistakes?' To point this out is really nit-picking. I only mention it to help you achieve perfection!  Wink

I was mostly concerned with teaching older people, aged 17 years and upwards, although I also worked with younger students with special needs, teaching them literacy, numeracy, and communication skills. I was the Curriculum Leader at an Institute for Further and Higher Education here in the UK.

If you contact me by email via this website, I will help you in any way I can. I have written papers on education in Great Britain that you might want to have a look at.

It will be interesting to compare our systems, looking at the differences in funding; validation and assessment of teaching and learning; and the application of the curriculae.

I hope I hear from you soon,

(I hope I haven't made any mistakes either lol)

Ray.

Dear Students

I don't know how to put this kindly, but I hope your moms' have packed you  plenty of sandwiches, crisps, a fizzy drink, and of course your sleeping bags with furry animal pyjamas. It might be a while before you see them again!!Tongue out
