Ron ... you keep changing my spelling!  I'm an American.  Daniel Webster removed all the unnecessary "u"s as a protest against British rule when he wrote the definitive American dictionary, and also changed the "s"es to "z"s.  They are not misspellings on my part, just Americanisms.

By the way, i guess i didn't answer your question above.  Yes, i know who C S Lewis was.  I do occasionally read a book, as well as take pictures!  LOL.

Evey, the website title is Pictures Of England and so I change your 'Americanisms' as you put it to fit with what we perceive to be 'correct'. It has nothing to do with any misspellings, gosh if it were I would be forever in the forum correcting stuff.

So Evey, accepting you are an American, we here are English and part of the attraction of the website is that very point. For example, if I were to let the American version remain, would it be England any longer?

It will be interesting to know what your fellow countrymen/women think about it and no doubt they will comment here in the forum in due course.

Incidentally Evey, the above comment is not a criticism in anyway whatsoever, in fact it was of interest to read what you said about Daniel Webster. It will also keep the forum active, especially as I will start a new thread re 'Americanism'. However, be assured this is my opinion and not that of the website owners Chris and Sarah who make the decisions.

Oops, Ron.  You see, the problem with the internet is that you do not hear inflection or see facial expressions.  Please accept my apology if i offended.  That was meant to be a gentle poke to the ribs.  But i believe, as they say, there will always be an England - with or without American spellings. (By the way ...  you missed one!)  And thank God ... why else would i be on this site?

And hi Krissy!

No Evey, absolutely no way am I offended. I tried to make that clear in what I said but you hit the nail on the head when you talk about inflection and facial expression! And ouch, that poke in the ribs hurt! I've had enough brutality from you American women first Sue H, then Ruth, then Debbie, now Evey! Thinks......now where did that Evey spell something differently...

Talking of spelling, this post contained a mistake but all is well now...

You know Ron, I'll be in Ireland next week. Ireland is only a hop, skip and a jump away from your doorstep, and I may just hop, skip, jump and punch you for calling me an American. I AM ENGLISH!

(Don't worry Evey. I have nothing against the Americans, I have been married to one for 25 years, and he certainly is THE BEST. And this is an ongoing battle with dear Ron. He knows how to pull my strings. It's all done in good fun.)

Hi Evey and a warm, belated, welcome to you! You are indeed among friends here as all of us who are not blessed to live in England feel the same way you do. Smile
