Hi everyone ..... I'm Kahu from Wellington, Aotearoa-New Zealand. My wife and I were last in the UK in 05, and 06 ..... maybe it's about time we had another trip over .... we certainly enjoyed our time tripping around.

Welcome to POE from Anna and Ron, Kahu. We did manage to get to Christchurch NZ and thought how beautiful your country is. Anyway, enjoy the POE website and forum and please do join in here whenever you can.

Hi Kahu, and welcome to POE. You come from a lovely country. I've never been there but I know that the Lord of the Rings trilogy was filmed there and the scenery was exquisite. :-)

I live 5 minutes away from the Rivers Anduin and Rohan River.... a bit further away 15 mins from Helm's Deep and Minas Tirith .... and about 20 minutes Rivendell , the fords of Isen, Isengard Gardens ...... and the Orc Tree. There's nothing left to see of Helm's Deep or Minas Tirith as they were movie sets in a nearby quarry.

I did quite enjoy walking around Oxford, and seeing all the famous university buildings and libraries ....... parking is certainly at a  premium there though. Christchurch is one of the most 'english' cities in the country, and they are proud of that heritage.

They are Kowhai [Koh-ff-ai} flowers ..... our national flower. The tree is one of the very few deciduous trees we have, and in spring simply covered in long tubular flowers simply dripping with nectar for the birds ... then the flowers drop and the leaves appear. Sometimes I'm envious of your northern hemisphere spectacular autumns .... we're green all year, except for exotic species.
